(A) General Management
After Separating The Child From Mother His Mouth And Throat Should Be Cleaned With Soft Cloth Dipped In Ghrita And Powdered Rock Salt And The Child Should Be Encouraged To Cry, If Needed Hot And Cold Water Can Be Sprinkled Alternately, The Cry Establishes The Respiration. Now The White Material (Vernix Caseosa) Adhered Over His Body Should Be Removed With Soft Cloth After Applying Bala Or Any Other Traditionally Used Oil And Bath Be Given With Tepid Water Boiled With Aromatic Drugs Or Atleast Tejapatra Or Neem Leaves.
The Umbilical Cord Should Be Cleaned Daily With Spirit, Followed By Dusting Of Powdered Mudhuyashti. The Oil Tampon Should Be Placed Over Brahmarandhra (Bregma). First Feed Of Ghrita And Honey Both ¼ Teaspoonful Mixed Together Should Be Given. Two Lines Of About 1” Length Should Be Drawn Over Smooth Clean Stone Of About 6” Diameter By Gold Rod, These Lines Should Be Washed With One Teaspoonful Water And This Water Should Be Given To The Child. Few Hours After Delivery The Mother Should Start Her Breast Feeding, And Give It With The Interval Of 2-3 Hours As Per Need.
